Obituary for Maxine M. Vincent

Maxine M. Vincent, age 86 of Smithboro, passed away on May 3, 2018 in Alamo, CA.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Mulberry Grove with Pastor Jerry Bagwell of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, officiating. Interment will follow in Mulberry Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville and from 10 a.m. Saturday at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Mulberry Grove. For those who desire memorials in Maxine's memory may be made to the Kiwanis Children's Fund or the Lion's Club International.

Maxine M. Sellin, the daughter of Max Sellin of Beecher and Bertha Bartell of Chicago, was born in Chicago Heights, IL on 2/15/32. Maxine married Donald Vincent in 1951 and lived in the Chicagoland area, graduated from Commercial School, worked as a secretary for a brief time and at Cuneo book bindery before returning to dressmaking, She moved to Smithboro from Carol Stream in June 1990 to retire with Don, who is from this area originally. He passed away in July 1993. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, the Smithboro Senior Citizens, The Utlaut Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Mulberry Grove Lion's Club. She worked most of her life as a seamstress and tailor, with a specialty in gown-making and has made some of the most beautiful dresses throughout her life. She continued to do sewing and alterations in Smithboro and also worked for periods of time at IGA, DeMoulin Bros., 2 Acres Restaurant, Circle B and the Budget Host Hotel. After 25 years, she moved to Danville, CA to be near her daughter, Karen. There, she volunteered at a local museum and made quilts with a local church group. She has two daughters (Donna Wright of Tucson, AZ & Karen Vincent of Danville, CA), 2 granddaughters (Michelle Richmond of Greenville, IL. and Christine Leland of Buffalo Grove) and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Gladys (100 yrs old) in Elkhorn WI.
