Guy, or Larry, as he was known by his family was born on Aril 7, 1930 in Flint, Michigan, to Anna Mae Braden Knight and Glen Chester Knight. He was the oldest of 12 children.
Growing up in Joplin Missouri times were hard especially after the loss of his young mother. The family he so treasured stayed strong through all of their challenges. Love bonded the Knight siblings. He learned early on about resilience, faith, and loving unconditionally.

Guy moved to St. Louis at 18 years old looking for work. There he met his sweetheart Dorothy, and that is where their love story began. He told the story of the first time she slipped her hand into his. He felt like he could jump over the A&P Store they were walking by. They held hands for 68 years. She held his hand until his last breath. He married Dorothy Marie Sullivan on July 8, 1950 at St. Marks Cathedral in St. Louis Missouri. From this union they had 7 children who adored them.

Newly married with a young son Guy was drafted. He was a proud soldier, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sargent in the United States Army in the Korean War.

Returning after the war Guy worked hard to provide for his growing family, sometimes working two jobs. In the early years he farmed in Fillmore Illinois. After moving to Cahokia Illinois, he was a bus driver for the city of St. Louis, worked for Toberman Grain Company is East St. Louis, and Kroger Foods in Cahokia. After moving to Greenville in 1970 he worked for Kroger in Greenville, Hillsboro, and Effingham, retiring in 1993. He helped at Donnell-Wiegand in Greenville for 11 years after retirement.

Firm in his foundation in faith Guy was an active member of St. Lawrence Church in Greenville. He was a Third Degree Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered for Bond County Right to Life and help found the Pregnancy Support Center in Greenville. When living in Cahokia Guy volunteered for the Legion of Mary.
One of his favorite past times was watching his kids and grandkids playing sports. He was an avid Greenville Comet fan.

Guy will be remembered for his love of God, patriotism, and devotion to his wife and all his family. He had a tender heart, gentle demeanor, and a great since of humor. He will be greatly missed but his memory will bring a smile to everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
